The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) has held its 86th meeting of its executive committee.

BOCOG President Liu Qi chaired the meeting.

The meeting agenda included a report on the status of preparations for the "Good Luck Beijing" sport events,which will serve as a comprehensive trial for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games operations. The command center will oversee all operations, including supervising multiple events at varied competition venues as well as city operations.

Six events of the 2007 "Good Luck Beijing" sport events will be part of the comprehensive trial. They are:

-- Sailing

-- Beach Volleyball

-- Canoe/Kayak Slalom

-- Road Cycling

-- Baseball and

-- Archery

The command and control systems, client services, city operations and safeguards, as well as reaction to emergency situations will be accentuated. Operational functions of the command center must be clearly defined and staff at the command center should learn of and resolve matters immediately in order to deliver high-quality results that meet high standards.

Only through a trial run can the real operational status be tested. This way, management of the command center will get a real sense of the cooperation and coordination among departments, environmental protection measures, transportation services and management, security and safety, news and publicity, medical services, safety of the venue surroundings, city operations and safeguards.
