OCT East, which opened its wetland park recently, received 100,000 visitors and earned 15 million yuan (US$1.97 million) during the National Day holiday week which ended yesterday.
OCT East is among three Shenzhen theme parks including Happy Valley and Window of the World that received more than 100,000 visitors in the seven-day period.
Sources from the city's holiday office said the city received 3.4 million tourists during the golden week and earned 2.8 billion yuan in tourism revenue, a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
During the National Day holiday week, around 1.31 million travelers came into Shenzhen from Hong Kong, equal to the number last year. Some 8 million travelers used the checkpoints between the Special Economic Zone and Longgang and Bao'an districts, 6.11 percent more than the same period last year.
The city's theme parks received 3.13 million visitors and earned 105 million yuan, 22.4 percent more than the same period last year.
A survey conducted by the holiday office involving more than 1,000 respondents showed 97.6 percent of the visitors were satisfied with the city's tourism services.
The tourism authorities received 21 complaints during the week, most of which related to poor service provided by tour agents, and heavy traffic along the east coast.
The survey showed the National Day holiday week had benefited the city's dining, retail and transportation sectors.
Five major department store chains, namely Vanguard, MOI, Rainbow, Carrefour and Shirble, each earned an average of 97 million yuan during the week.
