After hearing that no flowers had been sent to Google's Guangzhou office (which only opened a few months ago), some Web users in the south China city decided to rectify the situation.
On Thursday, people stopped by Google's offices in the Tianhe district of Guangzhou, though police refused entry to any visitors who were unable to provide the name of the person they intended to meet. Another group spontaneously organized via Twitter to meetup there late Thursday afternoon.
Guangzhou-based blogger Wen Yunchao said he and around 20 others arrived at the Google office in the city's Tianhe district Thursday afternoon, bearing bouquets of flowers and greeting cards. The group waited downstairs for Google employees to come and receive the flowers, but were told it was "inconvenient" for them to do so, Wen said.
