The Shanghai Railway Hotel (Shanghai tiedao binguan) was built in 1932 and is located near the city center. It is within walking distance of the Bund, and is only 15 minute drive from the Pudong.
The hotel has an old European facade, while within the 92 guestrooms, that range from standard doubles to deluxe suites, are mainly decorated in old Chinese style. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, colour television, refrigerator and telephone.
This small hotel has only a few facilities, although its location means that few are probably needed. For recreation there is a small store and a moon bar. For business, the hotel has a few meeting rooms, a multi-function hall and a business center that provides secretarial services with access to fax, IDD/DDD telephones, typing and photocopiers. There is one restaurant in the hotel, the Guihua Hall, that serves Shanghai, Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine.
